Perfect Putter Fitting is probably
going to make the difference between holing out or adding another stroke to your
score on each hole! So while using a new technology Quantum Putter is
important to improving your putting performance, making sure that new putter
fits perfectly is even more important. According to our Fitting
Specialist, Grant Westthorp, there are four steps to Perfect Quantum Putter
Fitting:
-
Hand Size determines proper grip
size. Measure from the top of your middle finger to the first ring at the
start of your wrist in inches or centimeters. This will determine the
appropriate grip size for hand comfort and feel. At Quantum we use a round
tactile grip that makes it a good deal easier to set your hands correctly on the
putter. By maintaining the round grip on the putter the same hand feel is
duplicated just like the rest of the clubs in the golf bag.

Fingertip to ground measurement
determines preliminary shaft length. Measure the distance between your
middle finger to the ground in inches or centimeters. Record both left and right
sides. These measurements in conjunction with the lie angle selection will
determine the final shaft length. The correct shaft length will prevent your
putting stroke from wandering and encourage a proper efficient pendulum stroke.

A Digital Photo determines proper
Lie Angle. The correct lie angle minimizes surface drag on the putter head
during the back and forward stroke and prevents toe or heel bite. Here's
what you do... Get your friend to snap a digital photo of you in your putting
stance from the front perspective following these guidelines:
Set up a golf ball on a flat green
or on the carpet at home. Then use your 7 iron, holding it upside down just
below the head and pretending it is your putter, placing the grip behind the
golf ball. Set your eyes directly above the ball (check to see if your eyes are
directly over the golf ball by dropping a tee down from your eye position, the
tee should strike the top of the golf ball.)
During the fitting, move your hands
up and down the shaft until you feel most comfortable with your eyes in the
correct position. Then mark your final shaft length and have your friend snap
the picture. The photo will show your best shaft angle and the mark will show
your final shaft length. Having the perfect shaft angle and length give you your
perfect fit.

Putter Head Selection. The Quantum
Putter is available in 3 Head Sizes. The “Blade” weighs in at 12 ounces and is
suitable for lightning fast greens. The “Middy” weighs in at 16 ounces and is
suitable for moderately fast greens. The “Mallet” weighs in at 20 ounces and is
suitable for fast to medium textured greens. Each Quantum Putter also comes with
power adjustment weights which can be inserted to adjust the power of the putter
for the variable conditions of the day.
